Discovery recently moved into their new offices in Sandton, an incredible modern green build by Growthpoint and Zenprop, and are looking to have a similar space for their Cape Town office in Century City’s Sable Park.
The new Sable Park development will be 16 300 square metres of premium A grade offices developed by Rabie Property Group at a cost of R460 million. Sable Park will comprise two four storey buildings of 8 000m2 and 8 300m2 respectively, each with two levels of underground parking.
Designed by dhk Architects in a contemporary modern vernacular, the buildings will front on to Sable Road providing great visibility and uninterrupted views of Table Bay and the mountain.
Spencer Botton, Commercial Property Broker at Knight Frank South Africa, said: “With the CBD’s congestion issues and limited parking, corporate’s are looking for alternative locations for their offices. Century City is easily accessible with new developments boasting green building status which is the reason why national blue chip firms are choosing this location. The rental is also a little more affordable than the CBD as you are getting new premium grade buildings, with less operating costs as most are green builds, at a lower rental. Less pollution, easy access, tranquil setting and great amenities for staff make this a great alternative for office space “.
Sable Park is situated in the all-green Bridgeways precinct which has become the new commercial and hospitality hub of Century City. The precinct is home to a number of other blue chip companies including Absa, Chevron, Philip Morris, the Business Centre, Thomson Reuters, Mastercard, Derivco, Northfund, Glad Africa and the Rabie Property Group amongst others.
Also located in the precinct is the mixed-use Century City Square which contains the Century City Conference Centre and Hotel, 15 000m2 of commercial space, apartments and restaurants surrounding a public square.
Century City Square development was recently awarded a 4-Star Green Star –Custom Mixed Use Design rating by the Green Building Council of South Africa, the first development in the Western Cape to achieve this.
